The Mystery

Photography 101. Todays assignment: Mystery and Lighting Effects.

Hello Bloganaughts.
Well, we are halfway through this course now and I have to admit that I’m having a ball!

Todays mission is to create a photograph that encompasses “Mystery” at the same time as using light to create mood and effect. I have to admit that I have been looking forward all day to getting to work with a camera, some bits and bobs and a few ideas.

If I say so myself, I’m pretty darn pleased with the end result too!

Can you solve the Mystery?

Can you solve the Mystery?

I do have a slight problem, because I can’t make up my mind between the colour shot or the same in black and white. I am open to suggestions, comments and opinions!

Sinister Monochrome Mystery…?

Sinister Monochrome Mystery…?

…”a ride on a mystery train, to a place I’ve never been.”

Catch you all soon,
Dookes

  1. Wow, that’s a tough one because I love both versions…but the color wins it for me also. I really love the wood grain of the table and the play of light. Great photo!

  2. Just catching up after an absence – love that photo! Yes, the colour for me too – it provides more detail whilst retaining all the mystery. But I read all Alba’s guesses and thought there’d be the solution at the end!

    • Ah yes! Thanks for the prod Curtis! The answer…

The candle lights up the key.
Two keys, two things to unlock.
The watch, lit up by the ray of light is at 8-20…the TWO hands on 8 and 4.
What are the eighth and fourth letters of the alphabet?
H and D. Hogrider Dookes or Harley Davidson!
The knife? A red herring, like any good mystery story has!

Oh and a public “sorry” to poor Alba, for keeping her guessing!
